Phrases like “team player”, “strong work ethic” and “hits benchmarks” are things you are supposed to do. Jeff Haden describes it perfectly in “10 Ways You Should Never Describe Yourself”. Jeff points to Chris Rock‘s talk about things you are supposed to do in a hilarious but not safe for work video and suggests substituting “team player” or “hits benchmarks” for other things Chris describes you are not supposed to do.
